Membership Benefits

The benefits of being part of Cyclist.ie include access to the research and advocacy expertise of the Cyclist.ie network and hence the European Cyclists’ Federation network; also a right to a share of resources secured by Cyclist.ie. These are:

  1. Access to the services of the National Cycling Coordinator for which post additional funding has been secured from the ECF; this has particular significance in the areas of organisational growth and in making planning submissions; see here for a copy of a recent submission
  2. Access to the central organs of state involved in transport planning, through our representation on:
    • National Trails Advisory Committee (NTAC)
    • EuroVelo National Coordination Group
    • National Bike Week Planning Committee
    • National Cycle Training Review Group
  3. Access to potential funding streams and training opportunities via our membership of The Wheel, the representative and resource body for NGOs in Ireland; a recent example here has been the funding acquired to train over a dozen cycling instructors nationwide
  4. Access to any funding acquired nationally from state and private companies for organisation and project development, and access to potential European funds through Cyclist.ie membership of the ECF
  5. Access to Cyclist.ie’s online resource tools and discussion groups via our own Intranet (Open Atrium – OA) system. This enables members to access information disseminated via OA groups and the opportunity to participate in, and influence discussions on all cycling related issues and policies
  6. Access to electronic templates for a variety of Fact Sheets, see Documents / Fact Sheets (left sidebar) which can be adapted (change of logo, contact address etc) for local dissemination by Regional Cycling Promotion Groups (RCPGs). In the case of printed resources, RCPGs would be entitled to a share of these also
  7. Voting rights on Cyclist.ie Council, our main decision making body, which meets at least twice yearly
