The Irish Cycling Campaign is an environmental partner of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of more than 6,000 business and individual members that give back to support environmental organisations. Irish Cycling Campaign (ICC) is now eligible to receive donations from 1% for the Planet business and individual members.

1% for the Planet is a global organisation that works to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive. It inspires businesses and individuals to support environmental partners through membership and everyday actions. It makes environmental giving easy and effective through partnership advising, impact storytelling and third-party certification.

ICC was delighted to be contacted in 2024 by Antaris Consulting so that they could make a donation to us through the 1% for the Planet platform. This was in recognition of the high impact that our advocacy work has had on growing a strong everyday cycling culture in Ireland. This donation by Antaris has made a real difference in giving ICC greater resilience as we prepare for the next set of campaigns that we will run over the coming months and years.     

On becoming an environmental partner of 1% for the Planet, ICC Chairperson Neasa Bheilbigh said:

This will make it even easier for organisations and individual donors to support our essential campaigning work to reshape transport policy in Ireland with cycling at its centre. Why support Irish Cycling Campaign?

ICC works for a healthier Ireland by promoting more and better cycling for all. Responsible for one fifth of Ireland’s carbon emissions, it is essential that the transport sector is completely reconfigured so that its emissions drop in line with the requirements of our 2021 Climate Act and our international commitments. A major shift from private car travel to truly sustainable transport modes like cycling will be key to avoid catastrophic climate change.

The Irish Cycling Campaign plays a key role in driving, influencing and facilitating this shift across Ireland, working to change attitudes, policies and budget allocations in favour of more and better cycling, stimulating and organising the work of the campaigners countrywide, and coordinating the exchange of knowledge on bicycle-related policies and strategies. How to support Irish Cycling Campaign through 1% for the Planet

Businesses: Businesses that join 1% for the Planet commit to giving 1% of gross sales each year to approved environmental partners through a variety of support.

Individuals: Individuals are a growing part of the 1% for the Planet movement. Anyone can join and donate 1% of their salary to approved environmental partners via monetary donations and/or volunteer support.
